Above & Beyond celebrates the people and organisations that go the extra mile to make a positive impact to the lives of local people.

Over the years I’ve heard some beautiful and touching stories about kindness, goodwill and respect for others, not only during the pandemic but way before that too and I wanted to find a way to recognise and applaud the work these amazing people are undertaking. I felt these stories needed to be shared and these incredible people celebrated for everything they do for our city. 

When we decided to introduce a further 24 buses that operate emissions free in the city centre, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to amplify these stories so lots of people could enjoy them. This got us thinking and we came up with ‘Above & Beyond’, celebrating the people and organisations that go the extra mile to make a positive impact to the lives of local people. 

Above & Beyond will appear on the side of a route 1 bus travelling from Mile Oak through the city and on to Whitehawk. Above & Beyond buses have the same Brighton landscape as the Live & Breathe buses and also help the environment too with 3,000,000 passenger journeys and 244,000 emissions free miles driven every year, bringing us closer to our goal of an emissions free fleet.
