A passionate voice for the environment, Susie’s career has always been about people and the environment, and for the past twelve years she’s worked on environmental and community projects in Brighton.

As joint manager of The Aquifer Partnership, she works hard to protect the city’s tap water by preventing rural and urban pollution. This includes partnering with local farmers, the South Downs National Park Authority, Southern Water, Brighton & Hove City Council and the Environment Agency. Up until a year ago, Susie ran consultancy Greenmetrics, guiding business leaders in making smarter, greener decisions and running sustainability masterclasses for small businesses for the University of Brighton’s Green Growth Platform.

Susie has also spent seven years as Chair of Trustees at the Moulsecoomb Forest Garden and Wildlife Project, which connects the local community to nature. As well as creating wildlife habitats, this incredible project includes a therapeutic garden, weekly group meals and schools outreach. Everyone is welcome, including children with behavioural challenges and learning disabilities. As a treasured part of the team, Susie enjoys getting stuck into everything from weeding plant beds to planning events.

A self-confessed lover of gardening, nature and people, Susie has blended her passions brilliantly to make life better for everyone in Sussex. What’s more, her determination to protect the environment means that future generations will owe her a big debt of gratitude too.
